| | [edit this] | | Confucius Cemetery is about 1.5Km north of Qufu City, and is also reputed as “Wood of the Ultimate Sage”. It was specially built for Confucius and his descendants. At present, it is also the oldest and the largest family graveyard in the world. Since the Han Dynasty, it has been rebuilt and expanded by rulers in the past dynasties. As a result, it has reached its present scale. There are verdant pines, cypresses and towering ancient trees. Tombs of Confucius, his son Kong Li and grandson Kong Ji are surrounded by red walls. In addition, there is the Pavilion of Kai Tree and Pavilions of Royal Stop where emperors had a rest in the wake of worshipping Confucius. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
